Business Studies students give donation to the Foyle Hospice
During this academic year, Year 14 Business Studies classes have worked on two projects as part of their GCE. These projects allowed them to create and develop a business. They sold candy canes and chocolate santas at christmas time as part of the A2 coursework. The profits made from these projects was then donated to the Foyle Hospice, a local charity. The total amount raised by the department, with the help of the entire school, was £410.14. We are delighted to be donating the money raised by the Business Studies Department to such a worthy cause.

AILO Problem Solving/Linguistics Workshop
Year 12 French students attended a preparatory workshop in Loreto Secondary School, Letterkenny, facilitated by Ms Niamh Lynch, previous-winner of the All Ireland Linguistics Olympiad. The workshop gave students the opportunity to work through challenging linguistics puzzles by practising their problem-solving strategies and linguistics skills. Niamh also passed on her own top tips for deciphering the perplexing linguistics puzzles. Almost 4000 students will compete in the first round of the AILO 2018 competition in schools across Ireland on 31st January. Our four Year 12 students; Leo Doherty, Orlaith Kelly, Anitta Sibin and Alexandra Thompson, will now act as Language Leaders and mentor our junior students in preparation for the competition. Good luck to all our competitors!
