Being Healthy

In promoting Health Education at Lumen Christi College, we seek to impart not only knowledge and skills but also to provide opportunities for pupils to explore attitudes and values towards their own health and the health of the community at large.

As part of the school's commitment to the development of the Extended Schools initiative, opportunities are created to facilitate community-linked, health related actions. These include strategies that are aimed at building a range of partnerships with other schools and the community in order to positively impact upon the full development of each individual pupil.

It is widely known that a healthy, balanced diet is vital for children’s growth and development and for their long-term health and well-being. We know also that there is a well-documented relationship between poor health, nutrition and low school achievement. This is particularly important in early years when lifetime habits are formed but also in teenage years as we educate the parents of the future. It ensures that all aspects of food and drink in school promote the health and wellbeing of pupils, staff and visitors to our school.

Our weekly canteen menu can be found under the Parent Information section.
